Gloria Jeanne Van Allen Landon was born on June 6, 1947 to the parents of Ralph and Marjorie Van Allen in Wichita, Ks. She is the second of the four children-Leon, Lynnette, and Dean. Gloria graduated from East High in 1965 and attended classes at WSU. She married the love of her life, Dennis Landon, on May 27, 1967. Gloria worked at Beach Aircraft and then worked for the Wichita City Attorney’s Office. When they welcomed their first child Traci, Gloria decided to stay at home to be a full-time mother because she said, “she didn’t want someone else to call her to tell her that Traci had taken her first steps.” Their family was complete when they welcomed Erik on Christmas Day. When both children were in school full time, Gloria went to work at the local electric company (KG&E, later Westar). She worked there for over 20+years, became the office manager at Murray Gill Energy Center, and retired from Gordan Evan Energy Center.
Gloria enjoyed working on and meeting with her High School Reunion group. She always wanted to be known as her family’s picture historian. And has the picture to prove it. Gloria was involved in her children’s activities. She loved being around her children, nieces/nephews, and later, her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dennis. Their children Traci (Ian) and Erik (Kristie) and her grandchildren Emily, Nathan, Ronan, and Sophia.
Gloria is now reunited with her father and mother, her two brothers and her sister in heaven. While we are left on earth with our special memories. Gloria, you were a unique person. May God bless you.
Gloria’s family thank the staff at Glen Carr and Good Shepherd Hospice for their loving care and support of Gloria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepard Hospice at 7829 E Rockhill, Suite 403; Wichita, KS 67206.
