Glendale Milton Roundtree, 79, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 02, 2021, in Derby, KS. He was born June 30, 1942, in Stroud, OK. The son of Howard and Beulah (Terry) Roundtree. In 1960, he enlisted in the U.S.M.C served in Vietnam War. His final rank was Corporal E3 in the amphibious duck squadron and armory battalion. On December 21, 1962, married Martha JoAnn Cink from Caldwell, KS at Chandler, OK. He worked on equipment and farmed for his uncle Bob Terry. In 1965, he started construction work plowing in underground Telephone Cable in TX, OK, & KS. In 1969, he moved to Caldwell, KS to help with Cink family farm, and worked at Caldwell CO-OP. In 1972, he moved to Wellington, KS. He was the owner of Roundtree’s Sunset Laundry & Trailer Park, and a tree trimming & firewood business. All while working at K.D.O.T. as a EO3 equipment operator. He loved being an equipment operator working with dump trucks to road graders. He was a member of the Wellington Baptist Temple. A true believer that helped as a leader in the church youth program. He was baptized in the Chikaskia River at the Ross Family Farm. He retired from K.D.O.T on March 5, 1999. After retirement, he helped build his daughter’s home. He owned a KOA Campground, a Motel, and homes in the Wellington area. At the end of his great journey, he moved to Derby, KS to be closer to his granddaughter and help with his daughter’s farm. In his retired life he enjoyed fishing, deer & pheasant hunting, and chess. He loved watching old black & white cowboy movies. Of course, a big Kansas City Chief Football and Oklahoma Sooner Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elva June Monroe-Roundtree (stepmother), Charles (brother), and Nina (sister). Survivors include his wife, Glena (daughter), Kelsie (granddaughter), 3 sisters (Virginia, Cynthia, Rosie) and Arlie (half-brother). A Celebration of Life with Marine honors will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Wellington Baptist Temple, 1022 North Plum St will follow the church service at 2pm. Flowers arrangements can be scheduled with Dillons Marketplace or Smith Family Mortuary in Derby, KS for family pick up by October 21, 2021.
