Glen Wallace Boutz was born on October 15, 1937, in Decatur County, KS. He was the 12th of 13 children born to his parents Albert and Theresa Boutz. Glen was raised on farms in Decatur County and rural Belleville, KS. He graduated from Agenda High School in 1955 and then enlisted in the Navy where he served for 4 years. Before he ended his service in the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Anita, on January 25, 1959.
They made their home in Wichita. Their first son, Mark Glen was born on December 26th, 1959. They soon welcomed their twin boys, David Wayne, and Duane Charles on January 23, 1963. They moved to Mulvane, Kansas in the summer of 1973. On November 28, 1974, they welcomed their fourth son, Mitchell Scott Boutz. Glen and Anita lived in their home in Mulvane until Anita’s passing on November 25, 2022. Glen moved to Derby Health and Rehab until his passing on July 18, 2023.
Glen went to a trade school to learn television electronics. He had a successful career in television repair until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Mulvane United Methodist Church and Mulvane Lions Club. Glen and Anita took their family on many vacations and enjoyed time at the lake with family and friends. After retirement they joined a Navy Destroyer Group that planned vacations for retired Navy personnel. They took many trips with the group which took them all over the United States including a Caribbean Cruise.
Glen enjoyed recording and watching hours and hours of old movies. He loved to tinker around the house and garage and liked to salvage items for scrap metal. Glen’s health began to fail after a bout with shingles, and then a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease in 2015. It was imperative to Anita that Glen remain at home. She was a dedicated and loving caretaker to Glen until her death. Glen then resided at Derby Health and Rehab until his death on July 18, 2023.
Glen is survived by his sons, David and his wife Sandy Boutz of Wichita, Duane Boutz of Udall, Mitchell Boutz of Mulvane, and Grandsons, Eric and his wife Alice Boutz of Bel Aire and Evan Boutz of Wichita. Great grandsons Benjamin and August Boutz of Bel Aire. Sisters-in-law, Dorothea Boutz, Arlene Boutz, and Marcia Boutz.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Theresa Boutz, wife Anita, son Mark, brothers Doyle, Darrel, Luther, Leo, Everett, and Homer and his sisters Freida Morgan, Flora Edwards, Frances Mosier, Doreen Boutz, Leona Somers, and Waneta Nilson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mulvane United Methodist Church, or to Rivercross Hospice.
