Gerald Patrick Murphy Jr

Gerald Patrick Murphy Jr, 75, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Gerry passed away peacefully on Sunday Morning 6:32 AM at the Robert J Dole Veterans Hospital. His life began in Needham, Mass, where he was born August 28, 1946.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Smith Mortuary, Derby. Inurnment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and while stationed at McConnell Air Force Base, he met Beverly Chisholm. The two married on June 20, 1968.

His early years were spent raising 3 children, running baseball tournaments, and taking care of ball fields. He was the President and Tournament Director of the Babe Ruth Baseball League for many years. When he wasn’t running tournaments, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with grandchildren.

He married Beverly Chisholm on June 20,1968. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by children, Kevin Murphy and Stacy Ann Murphy.

Gerald is survived by his children, Theresa McBee (Joe) and Gerald Patrick Murphy, III; nine grandchildren, Meghan Ugues (Marcos), Autumn Roby (Billy), Ashley Slattery (Ryan), Shelby Danielsen (Dane), Gage McBee (Emily), Mariah Murphy, Brianna Murphy, Madison Murphy, and Kevin Murphy; and 13 great grandchildren; sisters Elaine Brotman and Ann Shapiro.
