Gum, Gerald George “Jerry,” 80, died Monday, April 28, 2014. Visitation 1-8 p.m. Wednesday (family present 5-7 p.m.); funeral service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Jerry retired from the United States Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, and from Boeing. He also enjoyed raising miniature horses and spending winters in South Texas. Survived by his wife Joy; children Bob (Donna) Gum, Diane (John) McDaniel, Cindy (Mike) Gadd, Anita (Greg) Camfield; grandchildren Jeff (Megan) Gum, Carly Gum, Shelly (Clay) Conard, Jenne (Aaron Roe) Messer, Andrew McDaniel, Jeremy McDaniel, Elizabeth (Morgan) Bush, Bryan (Allyson) Gadd, Christopher Gadd, Katie Camfield, Conner Camfield, Christie Madden; great-grandchildren Mason, Dylan, Daniel, Addisyn; and sister Glennas Dover. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Derby Community Foundation, P.O. Box 372, Derby, KS 67037.
