George Richard Shipman, age 80, of Belle Plaine, retired mechanic, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016. Visitation 1-8 PM Tuesday, with family receiving friends 5-7 PM, Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home, 219 W. 2nd, Belle Plaine. Graveside service 10 AM Wednesday, Belle Plaine Cemetery. George is preceded in death by his parents, Dick & Rose Shipman. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; son, Rick Shipman (Stacy), of Derby; sister, Bertha Steudte, of Derby; 3 grandchildren. A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's Association.
