George Reynolds was born on May 28, 1930, to Elmer and Gladys (Teater) Reynolds at their home on Kansas Avenue in Little River, Kansas. He was the youngest of ten children.
George met his future wife Betty in a bookkeeping class at Eldorado High School where they quickly became friends. Betty babysat Homer Reynolds’ children, George’s brother, and George would visit her there every chance he could. Their love blossomed and they were married on June 8, 1951, in El Dorado, KS in a simple ceremony. This was the beginning of a love story spanning almost 72 years. Their early years were spent in El Dorado where they had a daughter Connie and son Terry. When George went to work for Cessna, they moved to Wichita, KS where daughter Judy was born. He worked for Cessna Aircraft as a supervisor and retired on May 28, 1985. In August 2009, George lost his son Terry in a terrible accident. George loved to travel and with Betty by his side, they went on many vacations throughout the United States and cruises the Caribbean.
George was a private pilot and shared his love of aviation with all of his family. He was a reserve police officer for the Wichita Police Department for several years and enjoyed this volunteer position. He was the king of “Dad Jokes” and his sense of humor was contagious.
As was typical of his generation, George could fix anything from cars to home repairs. He was able to fix everything except his broken heart when the love of his life Betty passed away in 2022.
George was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Gladys Reynolds, his wife Betty (Porter) Reynolds, seven brothers, two sisters and his beloved son Terry.
George is remembered and terribly missed by his daughters Connie Hawkinson (Randall) and Judy Stout (Steve), eight grandchildren; Maggie Butterfield (Arlee), Katie Gleichman (Joe), Shelly Cain, Ronni Reynolds, Tabitha Stout, Nick Stout (Deanna), Aaron Hawkinson (Ginger), and Jennifer Hensley (Joe) and fifteen great grandchildren; Madelynne, Maylee, Abigail, Eleanor, Josie, Lily, Leaha, Piper, Atticus, Levi, Mackenzie, Wyatt, Isaac, Ethan and Ellison.
