Derby - Buche, George, Jr., 90, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was born March 30, 1927 to Louise and George Buche, Sr. in Mulberry, Kansas. He graduated from Mulberry High School in 1945, then enlisted in the Navy Sea Bees. After his discharge from the Navy , he attended meat cutting school at Toledo, Ohio. His first meat cutting job was with Karbe Grocery Store in Girard, Kansas. He later worked at the Safeway Store in Pittsburg, Kansas, then in 1962 he started cutting meat for the U.S. Government Air Force Commissaries and retired in 1987 from McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas. He married Leuvena Manning on July 27, 1957 in Frontenac, Kansas. Their 60th wedding anniversary was honored last month. George loved fishing and gardening and was a champion Class A Horseshoe Pitcher. He is survived by his wife, Leuvena;two daughters, Rozanna (Skip) Carter and Rhonda (Brian) McNelly; three sons, Roger (Tonya) Buche, Randall Buche, and Richard (Kim) Buche; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, step-mother, and 8 siblings. Visitation Monday, August 7, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00. Funeral Service 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 8; all at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby. Graveside service at 3:00 pm, at Pittsburg Garden of Memories.
