Gaye Williams

July 3, 1943 — June 21, 2011

Marlene Gaye Williams was born on July 3, 1943 in Hooversville, Pennsylvania to Bryce and Veda Decker Snyder. Gaye, 67 years of age and a homemaker, ran into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

Gaye came with her family to the Wichita area in 1955. She attended several elementary schools and then North High. In 1962 she married Ray Williams - having been married for 49 years, a milestone worth noting in our day and culture.

They moved to California where Gaye worked at a Burger King in Bellflower, just north of Long Beach, for a time. Perhaps the deciding factor that Gaye and Ray moved back to Wichita from California was the big February of ’72 Sylmar earthquake.

In Wichita, Gaye worked at PlasticFab and then had a going career at Cessna until her hair got caught in a drill bit and pulled her in. She passed out, more from fright than anything, but was not injured and her Cessna days came to an end.

Gaye did a lot of daycare over the years, it’s safer you know! She was a favorite of the kids, perhaps because she spent the income to feed the kids favorite foods-fast foods.

Marlene Gaye was a lover of the kids, taxi driver for Kaye and the church “Grandma” at New Foundation. She loved to welcome people to church and never knew a stranger anywhere, especially if they had kids. Rumor has it that over the years she also threw great parties.

Gaye is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Veda and Daniel Commers; father, Bryce Snyder, Sr; brother, Bryce Snyder, Jr. Those missing her today include her husband Loyd “Ray” Williams; children, Dennis Williams and wife Cheryl of Wichita; Denice Burke and husband Barry of Plano, TX. and Timothy Williams of Wichita; brothers, Robert Snyder of Wichita and Telford Snyder of Minneola; sister, Kaye Wells of Wichita; stepsisters, Yvonne Decker and Mona Commers; uncle, Frank Decker;

9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 3520 N. Arkansas. A memorial has been established with Victory In The Valley.
