Halstead - McElroy, Gail Dee (Gourley)
On Wednesday, March 13, 2024 Gail Dee McElroy, loving mother, passed away at the age of 59. She was born February 2, 1965 to Jim and Barbara Gourley in Wichita, Kansas.
Gail grew up in Haysville, Kansas. Gail had many talents in life. In school she enjoyed performing in theatre, choir, and band. She was a member of the Campus Singers, played the baritone saxophone in the jazz band, and was first chair clarinet in the honor band. She graduated from Campus High School class of 1983. She then went on to attend Wichita State University as a first generation college student. At WSU she was an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity and was nominated for the 1987-1988 “Who’s Who Award” for her outstanding merit and accomplishments as a student. Gail graduated in 1987 with her Bachelors in Business Administration with a Minor in Economics. After college, Gail married and had a very successful career in business administration. After being blessed with children she decided her passion was to raise her kids full time. She was a dedicated and loving mother through their childhood years. In the course of time she began working at Rose Hill public schools as a paraeducator, where she was thrilled to continue pursuing her passion working with children. She loved volunteering at Sunday School weekly at Aviator church in Derby. Gail had a beautiful singing voice and she enjoyed performing worship songs in the Aviator church band. Gail was fond of all animals but especially loved cats. She was intelligent, generous, kind, funny, exceptionally beautiful, and she will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Peppa Mason.
Gail is survived by her children, Victoria (Bob) Noller, Miranda (Tanner) Bradfield, Rebecca McElroy, and Robby McElroy IV; grandchildren, Malachi and Simon Noller; sister, Tina (Duane) Riley.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Smith Mortuary - Haysville 7031 S. Broadway Haysville, Kansas 67060. A family luncheon will follow the service.
