Fred Eldon Adams, 68 years old, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at home in Wichita following a one year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his one brother and three sisters, four sons Glen, Terry, Jesse, and Dustin, many grand children and great grandchildren, his nephew Dennis, his girlfriend Teresa Moores and many beloved friends and coworkers.
Born January 21, 1949 and raised in Wichita, the son of Edward William and Laura Linda (Carpenter) Adams, he was the eighth of ten children and a life long resident of Wichita, Kansas. While he never graduated from high school, he received his GED in his early twenties.
At the age of sixteen, Fred was hired by Bill Blanchet to work at his newly founded machine shop. There he turned something of an apprenticeship into a life long career that spanned more than fifty years. Cutting and reshaping aluminum for the aircraft industry, he became known for making the impossible possible while retaining the highest levels of precision and detail.
Fred was born into a large humble family, where being strong and tough was the only way to survive. And although he always tried to project a posture of strength, he really was a kind, sensitive, and empathetic person who treated friends like family and strangers like friends.
In his final days he was surrounded by friends and loved ones and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service was held at the Rose Hill Bible Church on Sunday March 12, 2:00pm with private burial. Please send cards and flowers to 410 N Main St, Rose Hill, KS 67133.
