Visitation 1-8 pm Thursday with family receiving friends 5-7 pm, Culbertson–Smith Mortuary, 115 S. Seneca. Funeral service 10 am Friday, West Side Church of God, 1900 W. McCormick. Ernie was born September 20, 1920 in Winfield, to William Joseph & Cora Mae (Holston) Winn. He was a 1938 graduate of Winfield High School. He married Nellie Hanshaw in 1939 which concluded in divorce. He married Mary Kathleen Britton, December 30, 1946 in Medicine Lodge. He worked 37 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Wichita, retiring in 1983. He was a long-time member of West Side Church of God, where he was known as “Mr. Ernie” by those he taught in Sunday School classes and later, as well, by their children. He served on boards and committees, enjoyed traveling on work camp outings to help others less fortunate. His last such experience was when he was well past 80 years of age. He treasured the special times with the “Friendship Club” and the weekly men’s breakfasts. He sang bass in the Kings Men Quartet, enjoying singing songs of faith and hope … which he also lived out to all he met. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, “Kathie”; daughters, Erna Joan Lopez and Judy (Ralph) Teague, all of Opelika, AL; sons, Stanley (Elizabeth) Winn, Clark (Dawn) Winn, all of Wichita, and David (Kimberly) Winn, La Mirada, CA; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Robert “Bob” (Merle), McPherson; sister, Pamela (Wayne) Keesey, Winfield.
