She grew up in a modest home in Homewood, IL along with her two brothers. She attended Thornton High School. When the last child was in school, she became a cook for Assumption Saint Mary's grade school. When the children were grown, they spent many years as coaches for Catholic Engaged Encounters, where they impacted the lives of so many. After retirement, they spent time traveling the country and the world, and enjoyed spending time with the large extended family.
