Evon "Cookie" Wishall, 77, passed away Tuesday, July 9th, 2024. She was born December 8th, 1946 to Harold and Audrey Duell Garrow in Plattsburgh, New York. Cookie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1968. After teaching for one year, she worked as an accountant for Clinton County New York for a little over ten years. In later years she transitioned to homemaker as a military wife which involved living in many different parts of the world. She also volunteered as a bookkeeper for Wichita Riding Academy.
Cookie was an avid reader and would trade books with her children and grandkids. She was talented with sewing and made homemade costumes for her children, baby blankets, and enjoyed crocheting. Most memorable to family and friends is probably her holiday baking as from Thanksgiving to Christmas she made dozens of varieties of cookies to plate up and share with neighbors. What she enjoyed the most was spending time with family. She was a regular at all the grandkids activities including sports, dance, music you name it. Later in life she became a big sports fanatic following Fred Van Vleet’s career closely as well as the Kansas City Chiefs. She was a big animal lover with a soft spot for her cats and horses.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Audrey Garrow, and brother-in-law Richard Jones.
Evon is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jay Wishall; children, Michelle (Heath Garrard) Finnegan, David (Rebecca) Finnegan, Kristi (Jason) Purser, Sarah (Ted) Flauding; grandchildren, Jessica (Isaac Guillroy) Adams, Maeve Finnegan, Greyson Finnegan, Caleb Purser, and Eleanor Purser; siblings, Harold (Tess) Garrow, Linda Jones, Jim (Sue) Garrow; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
