Evelyn M. Jansen

Jansen, Evelyn M., 95, formerly of Rapid City, SD, passed away August 9, 2015, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at St. Francis. She lived at the Villa Maria Nursing home, Mulvane, Kans. Evelyn was born in Dallas, SD, December 3, 1919, to Charles and Eva Winburn. She married Carl Jansen (deceased) in Deadwood, SD, August 15, 1945. They had 3 children: Judy (Allen) Russell, Derby, KS; Calvin (Linda) Jansen (deceased); David Jansen (deceased). She was also proceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by grandchildren Allen III (Jennifer), Dotti (Will) McBride, Walker (Carla) Russell, Kyle (Alicia) Wilkinson. Great-grandchildren Aspen, Zach, Andrew, Cheyenne, Jordan, Peyton, Calvin, Allyson, Griffin, Kylie; step-great-grandchildren Taylor, Talya, Garrett; 3 great-great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-great-grandchildren; sister Dee Fench, Minneapolis, Minn; and former daughter-in-law, Jo Jansen of Tabernash, CO. She was very active in VFW Auxilliary Post 1273., serving as president. She also was awarded the Black Hills Heart of Gold for many, many hours of volunteer work. A celebration of life will be held 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 20, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037 with family present. Burial will be 1 pm, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Villa Maria Activity Center, 116 S.
