Eula E. Payton

Eula E. Payton, age 96 years and 11 months, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013. Visitation 2-8 PM Thursday, September 5, with family receiving friends 5-7 PM, Hilyard-Smith Mortuary, 507 S. Maple. Funeral service 1 PM Friday, September 6, Douglass United Methodist Church, 204 S. Willow. Eula was born September 12, 1916 to Glenn and Esther (Stanley) Rowe. She married Leonard “Bud” Payton, November 14, 1936. Eula worked at Boeing for 7 years and as a school cook at Douglass for 17 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 siblings, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. Survivors include her children, Charlene Davis (Don), Roger Payton (Pat), Georgia Bergley (Russ), 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with the Douglass United Methodist Church, 204 S. Willow, Douglass, KS 67039 and Douglass Senior Center, PO Box 302, Douglass, KS 67039.
