Eugene C Kleman

Eugene Clarence Kleman 93, died on Monday, May 13th, 2024. He was born December 7th, 1930 to Franklyn Kleman and Elizabeth Kleman (Kottenbrock) in Kalida, Ohio.

Our dad grew up on a farm in Northwest Ohio, while mom was from a nearby small town. They first met during their teenage years at church social events. Dad remembered his days working with mules on the farm before they got their first tractor. Both dad and mom talked about when they first got electricity and running water on the farm. After serving in the Marine Corps for two years, dad returned to Ohio and became serious with mom. They tied the knot in 1955. Using the GI Bill, they briefly moved to Chicago, where dad earned his Associates degree in Electronics and mom had their first son. The family grew quickly, and they settled near Dayton, where dad found a job at NCR. In 1972, we were all relocated to Kansas, where we became lifelong residents and cherished every moment. Dad completed a 40-year career with NCR and enjoyed over 30 years of retirement with mom. We will miss him dearly.

Eugene is survived by Alvera his wife of almost 69 years. His five children Larry, Dana, Denise, Tony and Susan. Fourteen grandchildren Jaime, Cecilia, Casey, Shauna, Rebecca, Tess, Ian, Jeff, Michelle, Rachel, Kaitlan, Brenna, Jasmine and Alissa. Eighteen great grandchildren Faith, Jamar, Dalton, Flynn, Marian, Tempe, Colton, Calvin, Harvey, Evelyn, Frank, Klay, Sydney, Eli, Jack, Blakely, Raelyn, Mia, Oliver and one to be named due next week. And one great-great grandson Chandler.

Visitation: Thursday, May 16th, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Mortuary, Derby 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am, Friday, May 17th, 2024 at St Mary Catholic Church 2300 E Meadowlark Rd Derby, Kansas 67037. Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery.

[In lieu of flowers] memorial contributions may be made to St Mary building fund.
