Ernest R. Morrison

Ernest R. Morrison, 70, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 while vacationing in Finland. He was born December 23, 1947 to Robert "Bob" and Tad (Johnson) Morrison in Minneapolis, MN.

He was an award winning geologist who would strike up a conversation with anybody. He went into Education to spread his knowledge of geology. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and watching Vikings football. He was an avid soccer fan, particularly of the Wichita Wings. Ernest was an animal lover and humanitarian. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Ernest is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pat; sons, Robert (Laurianne) Morrison and John Morrison; former daughter-in-law, Ami Morrison; grandchildren, Owen, Sasha, Lev, and Oliver; siblings, Jeff Morrison, Judy (Larry) O'Neal, Jill Morrison; brother-in-law, Steven Miller; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation: Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 3 to 6 pm at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Memorial Service: 2 pm, Monday, September 17, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 214 S. Derby Ave., Derby, KS 67037. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325, Compassion International, 12290 Voyager Parkway, Colorado Springs, CO 80921, or Faith Lutheran Missions, 214 S. Derby, Derby, KS 67037.
