Louise Ragland

June 30, 1925 — July 8, 2023

Elizabeth Louise Ragland, passed away quietly on July 8, 2023 in her home. Louise was born June 30, 1925 to John Luther Riley and Mabel Louise Robison Riley, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Louise was one of three children by this union.

Louise married Ersel Riggs August 1, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ersel and Louise had one child Nancy Beth in 1943. Ersel died in December 1943.


Louise then married Eugene Joseph Stouder in May 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Louise and Eugene had additional children, Barbara, Anna Louise, Jonell, Donald, and Tresa.


In the early 1950’s they moved the family to Kansas City, Missouri. First to the area known as Little Blue and then to Raytown Missouri, where they resided until Gene died in January 1965.


Louise continued to live in the Raytown area for many years. She married Howard Kenneth Ragland in 1983. Louise and Howard enjoyed an incredibly happy active life where she helped raise Howards’ son Scott. Louise loved Howards’ children, Kenny, Bob, Kim, and Scott, as if they were her own.


They also enjoyed square dancing and bowling tournaments with their friends. After they retired, they enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona and summers camping in Blue Springs. After Howard passed in 2005 Louise moved to Haysville, Kansas where she was an active member of the Haysville United Methodist Church and Haysville Senior Center.


Louise was preceded in death by both her parents, brothers and two children Nancy and Anna Louise. She is survived by Barbara Jahn, Jonell (Ken) Davis, Donald (Jan) Stouder, Tresa (Terry) Ellis, 14 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.


In Lieu of Flowers Memorials are set up at Haysville United Methodist Church and Haysville Senior Center.


The visitation will be at Smith Mortuary in Haysville on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at the Haysville Methodist Church, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

The burial will be at Brooking Cemetery, 10004 E. 53rd Street, Raytown, Missouri on Friday at 1 p.m.
