Elizabeth Jo Gifford

Gifford, Elizabeth “Betty,” RN, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014. She was born in Easton, Maryland to Harry and Alva Mae Baldock in 1940. The family moved to Kansas when she was 4 years old. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she worked 35 years as a Nurse Manager at Wesley Medical Center a few years in the Teen Age Unit and General Surgery Units. Most of her years were spent as a Nurse Manager in the Women’s Surgical, Oncology, and High Risk Obstetric area of the Women’s Hospital. She enjoyed working with staff and management on systems, forms, policies, and procedures to improve patient care and documentation. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands: Gary Hansard and Jack Gifford. She is survived by son Richard Hansard of Belle Plaine, and grandsons: Gary Hansard, Zach Hansard, and Kaleb Shuckman. Per Betty’s wishes, the family will hold a private memorial service. She also asked for memorial contributions to be made to the Belle Plaine Library, in lieu of flowers.
