Elfrieda Daily, age 91, entered eternal life surrounded by her family on July 20, 2015. She was born and raised in Andale, Kansas, the daughter of Leo and Elenora (Winter) Hecht. During World War II she worked at the Coleman factory in Wichita making tracer bullets. She married Lawrence Daily on September 2, 1950 and they made their home in Mulvane, where they raised six children. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Mulvane. Frieda was longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, serving in the church choir, Altar Society and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an enthusiastic community volunteer and loved quilting, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. She was especially proud of the many quilts made for St. Michael's fundraisers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Elenora Hecht; husband, Lawrence Daily; sisters, Loretta, Winifred, Mary, Salome, and Lioba Hecht, Jeanne (Tom) Ridder; brothers, William (Cecilia) Hecht, Leo (Mary Ann) Hecht; brothers-in-law, Norbert Lies, William Urbanek. Frieda is survived by her children, Randy (Cheryl) Daily, Karen (Dave) Davis, Janice Stone, Diane (Michael) Smith, Mary Daily, Mark (Erin) Daily; grandchildren, Jill (Dan) Schneider, Libbey Smith, T.J. Smith, Tyler Prickett, Melissa Daily, Patrick Daily, Eric Davis, Alex Stone, Nick Barnes, Justin (Erica) Barnes, Katie Barnes; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Scarlett Barnes; sisters Donna Lies and Norma Urbanek; sister-in-law, Nettie Daily. Visitation l-5pm Thursday, July 23, at Smith Mortuary, 501 S.E. Louis Blvd. Mulvane. Recitation of the Rosary 7pm Thursday and Funeral Mass 10am Friday, both at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 525 E. Main St. Mulvane. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with St. Michael's Catholic Church.
