Ellen Soto

Ellen D. Soto, 81, retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a lab technician, where she worked for over 20 years. Ellen was born in Atimonan, Quezon, Philippines.

Our beloved mother, Elena “Ellen” Soto, sadly passed away on Thursday, November 21st at the age of 81. She was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother. She was always there for her family – offering love, sharing meals and delightful anecdotal stories. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the Filipino community.

Ellen received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Manila Central University in July 1968. Ellen, Ramon, and all their children moved to Wichita, KS in 1980. Ellen’s hobbies included cooking Filipino dishes, gardening, planting flowers, taking photos, singing, and dancing at Filipino parties. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially attending her grandchildren’s activities and functions. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She was predeceased by her brother, Abelardo Decena; her father, Pablo Decena; and her mother, Rosalia Decena.

She leaves behind her husband, Ramon Soto; children, Michael and Robin Agpoon, Mark and Deanna Agpoon, Eilleen and Jared Wilbert, Maria and Matthew Newgent, Esperanza Soto, Juan Soto and Dalymar Reyes; grandchildren, Blaine and Kenna Agpoon, Lauren Agpoon and Ethan Chandler, Mia Agpoon, Bella Agpoon, Lexie Wilbert, Maverick Agpoon, Marshall Agpoon, Francesca Agpoon, Anamaria Newgent Soto, Joseph Newgent Soto, David Newgent Soto, Lester Rodriguez Soto and Patricia Rodriguez, Ana Soto Estrada, Carolina Soto Borrero; great granddaughter, Elleri Agpoon.

Visitation: Tuesday, November 26th, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 both at Smith Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road Derby, Kansas 67037. Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery.
