Elbert Eugene,“Bud” Weatherson, age 90, beloved husband, father, grandpa and uncle, born October 5, 1921, passed away peacefully on February 29, 2012 surrounded by family. A 1940 graduate of North High School, he was a veteran of WWII, serving as 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. Bud retired from Wausau Insurance in Dallas, TX, as Distribution Manager, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Throughout his life he enjoyed photography, studying the weather (especially tornados), restoring antique furniture, and growing Gardenias to share with others. He was also especially devoted to his dog, Rusty. Bud was preceded in death by parents Grant and Jessie Weatherson and sister Dorothy Middlebusher. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Frances; children, David (Shari) Weatherson, Gail (Mark) Hartke, Terry (Mona) Weatherson, and Nancy (Roy) Richardson, all of Wichita, and Jim (Ann) Weatherson of Nashville, TN, and Susan (Tim) Larabbee of Southlake, TX; grandchildren David (Susan) Weatherson II, Wendy Weatherson, Heather (Jon) Clotfelter, Adam (Jessie) Hartke, Lauren Weatherson, and Cole Weatherson; great-grandchildren, Harleigh and Shae Weatherson, Quinn Barnard V, Jonah, Josef, Adali and Oliver Clotfelter. Viewing will be Friday, March 2, 2012 at Culbertson-Smith Mortuary from 3-8pm. Private graveside services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012. In lieu of flowers,memorial donations may be made to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS.
