Elaine L Bevington, 95, of Derby passed away Saturday March 16, 2024.


Born September 25, 1928, to Henry and Lydia(Hahn) Wollenburg at the Lutheran Hospital in Beatrice, NE, Elaine grew up on the family farm in Gage County Nebraska. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at First Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Beatrice. She attended First Trinity Lutheran school from grades 1-8 and graduated from DeWitt(NE) High School. After high school she moved to Beatrice and worked at First National Bank where she met her future husband, Jim Bevington. They were married November 19, 1960. A job brought them to Wichita and then Derby.


She was preceded in death by her husband Jim and parents Henry and Lydia. Sisters Marion Niemeyer, Mildred Wollenburg and Esther Zentner. Brother Eldon Wollenburg. Brothers-in-law Lorenz Niemeyer and Harlan Zentner. Sister-in-law Arlene Blobaum.


Survivors include daughter Pamela(Brent) Curtis of Great Bend and son Thomas of Derby. Grandson Chris(Josephina Ibarra) Curtis of Austin, TX. Granddaughter Kelly(Taylor) Calcara of Great Bend. Great-grandchildren Cora, Kit, and Brooks Calcara. Brother Richard(Alice) Wollenburg. Numerous nieces and nephews.


Visitation 6-8pm Wednesday, March 20, at Smith Mortuary in Derby. Funeral Service 2:00 pm Thursday, March 21, at Faith Lutheran Church in Derby, followed by interment in El Paso Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the church.
