The oldest child of Raymond and Lucille Wilcox entered this world at St. John’s Hospital in Winfield, Kansas on June 16, 1946. On November 21, 2025, she left her earthly home at the age of 79. She was a patient at The Center at Waterfront rehabilitation center under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was surrounded by her children. She ended her many years of battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She attended school at Green Valley School in Rock, Kansas during her early years and graduated high school in Winfield, Kansas in 1964. She attended Cowley County Community College and earned a degree in business.
On December 2, 1967 she was united in marriage to Gary L. Cody at the Rock United Methodist Church in Rock, Kansas. To this union 2 sons were born, Chuck Cody and Al Cody. Gary died on December 24, 2000.
Ednamerle spent most of her working career as the post master at the Rock, Kansas post office. She served in this job for 27 years before retiring in August of 2012. She spent her remaining years on the family farm east of Rock, Kansas.In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved a good family dinner and would often say, “Leave the dishes, I’ll do them later, let’s just go sit and visit!” She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafts of all kinds, her flowers, and growing herbs. Her grandchildren were very important to her and she would often text or call just to check up on them and visit. She was a member of Eastern Star and served as a worthy grand matron.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Lucille Wilcox, her brother Ben Wilcox, her husband Gary Cody, and her special friend Gene Beard. She is survived by her two sons and wives Chuck and Jeanine Cody of Douglass, Kansas and Al and Jennifer Cody of Rose Hill, Kansas. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Tyler, Ashtyn, Morgyn, and Gracyn Cody and 5 great grandchildren Bristol, Robert, Ella, Charlie, and Ledger Cody as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 25, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 at the Smith Family Mortuary in Derby, Kansas. Her service will be held at the Rock United Methodist Church on Wednesday November 26, 2025 at 2:00 immediately followed with a service at the Stalter Cemetery in Rock, Kansas.
Memorial donations go to the Rock United Methodist Church where she served many roles and volunteered a lot of her time.
