Edith Ann Ford (nee Owsley), fondly known as Ann, passed away on July 27, 2024, at the age of 85, in Mulvane, Kansas. Born in Whittier, California, the first child of Noble Ernest Owsley and Edith Katherine Yates. Ann spent her formative years there, attending Whittier College for two years before dedicating her life to her family as a homemaker. She traveled the United States and many foreign countries as an Air Force wife for 21 years.
Ann was a beacon of kindness and generosity to those who knew her, willingly offering her time and talents. She found joy in making meals, quilts, and being a supportive presence for anyone in need. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her community. She was a talented seamstress, quilter, musician, and artist in which she incorporated her different experiences while living in foreign countries. Her contributions were felt in various organizations, including the Kansas Specialty Dog Service, Great Plains Dulcimer Alliance, and Kansas Arabian Horse Society.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years, Jim; children, Cathrine (Joe) Amason of Lancaster, SC, Cheryl (Dave) McNutt of Locust Grove, OK, and David (Cheryl) of Freeport, FL, and sister, Dale Stellman of Sequim, Washington, six grandchildren, Tim Amason, Sarah Kelly, Noble and Clay Greenberg, Jade Olsen, and Kane Ford, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ann’s family and friends will remember her as a person who never met a stranger and cherished every moment with her family.
A celebration of life will be at a future date. Contributions in memory of Ann can be made to the Kansas Specialty Dog Service, 120 W. 7th St., Washington, KS 66968. Smith Mortuary in Derby, Kansas, is assisting the family during this time. Ann’s legacy of love, artistry, and community service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
