E. Keith Volz, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, died peacefully on February 7, 2015. He was born January 9, 1941 in Horton, Kansas. He graduated from Wichita High School Southeast and attended Wichita State University and Kansas State University. He worked his lifetime in construction and architecture, retiring from Law-Kingdon, Inc in 2005. He was a long-time member of Dellrose United Methodist Church in Wichita and Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Derby. He served the City of Derby in many capacities including Derby Planning Commission, Derby Board of Zoning Appeals, Derby Community Foundation, Derby Chamber of Commerce, and numerous advisory and study committees. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Derby. In retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren working on model railroads and watching their favorite movies and WSU basketball games. Keith is preceded in death by his parents Lenard and Vera Volz and grandson John Lucas Sandlin. He is survived by his wife Marsha, whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage with on Valentine’s Day this year; daughters, Jennifer (Rick) Brown of Derby and Kimberly (John) Sandlin of Wichita; grandchildren, Cody Ramsey, Kael Ramsey, Keaton Brown, William Sandlin and Olivia Sandlin; sister, Karen (Don) Ames of Broken Arrow, OK; brother, Sherman Volz of Wichita; brother-in-law, Terry Dobson of Derby. A memorial has been established with the Derby Community Foundation for Madison Avenue Central Park, P.O. Box 372, Derby, KS 67037. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Smith Mortuary Chapel. Private interment will follow.
