Duane L Brueggeman

January 11, 1937 — March 30, 2026

Rejoice! Duane Lee Brueggeman is now in the presence of the Lord and is once again with his sweetheart, Dorothy. Duane ascended to be with his savior on March 30th, 2026 leaving a legacy of faith, devotion and steadfast love for his family and all who came to know him.

Duane was born on January 11th, 1937 in Scott City, Kansas and married the love of his life, Dorothy Burgess on Aug 5, 1956 in Hoisington, Kansas. He graduated from Hoisington High School and excelled in Track and Field winning many honors.

He started driving a truck for his father at an early age (14) and continued perfecting his craft throughout his life. He proudly held the title of a professional truck driver and accumulated over 3 million miles without an accident. A highlight of his career was being selected to compete as Consolidated Freightways representative at the Kansas Motor Carriers Association driving competition, which also included a speech related to the industry. His professionalism left a lasting impression on the organizers and he was asked to serve as a judge the following year.

Duane never met a stranger and relished meeting and getting to know people from all walks of life. Ask anyone who knew him, family, friends and strangers and they will all tell you of his love of storytelling, his love of life and how much he enjoyed giving people a good-natured hard time. He could relate to anyone and was truly interested in who they were or what they did. He would let you know how much he liked you and made you feel important.

Dorothy kidded him that he corrupted his sons by taking them to dirt tracks throughout Kansas and Oklahoma to watch racing of all types of cars. His son's best memories are of those times spent with their dad. They continue to attend races together to this day and are so thankful he introduced them to the sport.

Duane and Dorothy loved to spend time with their granddaughters and would take them on trips far and wide to explore this great nation. Duane would entertain anyone who would listen about their grand adventures together.

After a long career he retired and took to the road in an RV to show Dorothy all the places he had experienced. They loved to explore the country and spent time working at RV parks and meeting many new friends. They developed lifelong friendships with several couples and thoroughly enjoyed traveling and spending time together.

After many years of traveling, they settled down in Kansas and became active and vital members of their local church along with spending quality time with family. Duane's life was marked by his enduring faith and commitment to serve the Lord. He found opportunities to help in whatever church they attended and whomever he crossed paths with along the way. The last few years were spent in assisted living where he "harassed the natives". If asked "How are you?" He would respond with his unforgettable  "I'm Great, Fantastic, Wonderful and Richly Blessed!"

He leaves us all with countless wonderful stories and memories along with his three children, JoLynn (Brueggeman) Stephens and husband Michael, Keith Brueggeman, Darryl Brueggeman and wife Miriam. Granddaughters Cassie Stephens, Callie Boston, Faith Brueggeman and three great grandchildren, four nieces and nephews and two generations of great nieces and nephews.
