Dorothy Mae (English) Johnson was born March 18, 1923 to Randolph and Cordelia English in Laurinburg, North Carolina. She passed away at Glen Carr House on April 2, 2018 at the age of 95. Dorothy was the next to the youngest of nine children and the last of the living siblings. She grew up in Laurinburg, NC and graduated from high school there. One of her favorite memories was driving to Raleigh each week where she was in pilots training with the WASPs. During her pilots training, she lost her ride to Raleigh and that ended her flying; however, she met a young Oklahoma boy at a USO dance by the name of Ronald Johnson. He was in the Army Air Cops stationed at the Laurinburg-Maxton Air Base They were married June 8, 1945 in Laurinburg. After his discharge from the service, they moved to Gage, OK where they farmed for three years. In August of 1949, they were blessed with twin daughters. In 1952, Ronald accepted a job with Boeing and they moved to Wichita. Dorothy was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Lampkin (M.J.) of Wichita and Delia Scroggin (Terry) of Mulvane; grandchildren, Darla Hedstrom (Todd) of Kechi, Ryan Scroggin (Vickie) of Derby, Mason Lampkin (Allie) of Wichita; great grandchildren, Anna, Mark and Megan Hedstrom and Colby, Sydney and Kate Lampkin.
