Doris T. Sparks-Almire

Doris T. Sparks-Almire, 85, of Mulvane, died March 14, 2023. Born in Sanford, Maine on October 13, 1937, the daughter of Henry and Lillian Doucette.

She graduated from St. Ignacious Catholic Church. Doris was a cosmetologist and bartender while raising five children. She moved to Kansas in 1972 where she began her aircraft career at Cessna, then to Boeing, where she retired. After retirement she spent her time volunteering on the B-29 Doc crew of which she was very proud. After Doc was completed, she worked briefly at the aviation museum.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Almire, daughter Darcie Norman, son Doug Ewert, and brother Steven Doucette. She is survived by four children, Robert (Mary Ann) Ewert of Statesboro, GA, Steven (Kimberly) Ewert of Wichita, Sheryl (Eddie) Brocklesby of Belle Plaine, Michelle Ewert of Wichita; stepsons Brad and Brett Almire; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation 4-8pm Friday, March 17, at Smith Mortuary in Mulvane. Funeral services 2pm Sunday, March 19, at First Baptist Church in Mulvane, followed by burial in the Mulvane Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church in Mulvane.
