Donna J. Reed

Reed, Donella “Donna” J., 85, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014. She was born December 13, 1928 to Raymond and Velma (Overlander) Newkirk in Wichita, KS. Donna retired from USD 260 and volunteered several years for the Woodlawn United Methodist Church Thrift Shop. She enjoyed playing bingo, dominoes, marbles and cards. Donna was devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Fletcher; infant son, Bruce Leland Reed; and sister, Beverly Hoy. Donna is survived by her children, Randy (Debby) Reed, Dr. Tom (Deborah) Reed, Mark (Kim) Reed, and Jan (Larry) Johnson; brother, Harold (Georgelyn) Newkirk; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation: Friday, 1 – 8 pm with family present between 5 pm and 7 pm at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS 67037. Funeral: 10 am, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, 431 S. Woodlawn Blvd., Derby, KS 67037. Interment will follow at El Paso Cemetery.
