Mortuary visitation hours are 1 pm - 8 pm Friday, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. KS. Funeral Services will be held for Donald "Don" Leck Saturday, September 7th , at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Haysville with Pastor Bo Graves officiating. Interment will be following at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Derby, Kansas.


Donald Paul Leck was born on November 24, 1940 in Marysville, KS and died Monday, September 2, 2013 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 72.He was raised in Washington, KS and graduated from Washington County High School in 1959. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA.On June 11, 1966, he was united in marriage to Darlene Graybill at Leedey, OK. Don's work took them to several major cities in the US. Their first daughter was born in Atlanta GA, his son was born in Dodge City, KS, and his youngest daughter was born in Olathe, KS. They moved to Haysville, Kansas where Don was employed with Boeing. He was very entrepreneurial so he opened an electronic shop, called Midwest Micro Electronics, where he worked on TV's and other electronics. He retired from Boeing but continued with his business. In 2002, they moved to Derby, Kansas.He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His family was active at First Baptist Church of Haysville.He enjoyed his family, including spending hours playing with his grandchildren. A great passion of his was tractors and gardening. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and using them. He also liked to serve others by providing fresh produce from his many gardens.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eva Leck.Survivors include his wife, Darlene Leck of Derby, Kansas; two daughters, Angela Griffin and husband Mark of Park City, Alisa Carrasco and husband David of Lewisville, TX; one son, Andrew Leck and wife Jill of Rose Hill; one sister, Rosalie Bernasek and husband Galen of Washington, KS; two brothers, Larry Leck of Washington, KS, John Leck and wife Mary of Washington, KS; brothers-in-law, Duwayne (Helen), Jerry (Elaine), Vic (Wallie), Robert (Judy), Calvin (Verna) Graybill; and grandchildren, David, Drew, Johnny, Katie Leck and Isaiah Carrasco.


In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church, 125 S. Delos, Haysville, KS 67060, and American Cancer Society, 330 S. Main, Wichita, KS 67202.
