Donald Paget, faithful Christian, devoted husband, dedicated father, and beloved grandfather,
went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in Evansville, Indiana.
He was born December 8, 1950, in Fredonia, KS to Lloyd Lee Paget and Mildred Alice
(Coltrain) Paget. Donald was the sixth of seven children (four sisters and two brothers). Upon
graduating high school he left to attend the University of Kansas. He voluntarily joined the Air
Force, as a medic, in 1970 and following boot camp, was transferred to Laredo Air Force Base
in Laredo, Texas. It was there that he met, and married, Judy Jane (Sanchez) Paget on April 21,
1972, at Laredo Baptist Tabernacle.
Don and Judy were transferred to Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia, where they were
blessed with three children, Deena, Jeffery, and Victoria. Upon leaving the service in 1981, he
continued his medic career as an Advanced EMT for Lowndes County, Georgia. The family
moved to Wichita, Kansas, in 1988, to help care for his father. Don earned his Paramedic
license and served his community with Sedgwick County EMS until 2009, earning the rank of
Lieutenant in the ambulance service. He was hired as Medical Training Officer for the Sedgwick
County Fire Department, serving as Captain until his retirement in 2018.
Donald put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ around the age of five. He enjoyed serving the
Lord faithfully throughout his entire life. He served his church families selflessly in various
capacities. His last and longest church home was Bethel Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas,
where he enjoyed membership from November 1988 until his death. Don served the Lord as
Adult Sunday school teacher, Trustee, Missions Treasurer, Sound Technician, and more.
Don’s greatest joy, in addition to serving his Lord and Saviour, was spoiling with his wife, his
daughter, and traveling to visit his other children and grandkids. He loved spending time with
friends, and playing games. He enjoyed visiting lighthouses, had fun birdwatching, and was an
enthusiastic gardener and animal lover. He was active in local politics and served as precinct
committeeman for a several years.
Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy (Sanchez) Paget; son Jeffery (Amy), daughters
Deena (John) and Victoria; and two sisters, Sherryle Kinder and Mina Stevens (Russell). Also
surviving Don are four grandchildren, Audrianna and Caleb Talbert, Ethan and Ellie Paget; as
well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his two brothers, Wayne (in
childhood) and Sherman (in infancy), and two sisters, Donna Jean Addison and Alice Jo Emery.
