Donald Ray Carlson

August 20, 1946 — December 19, 2013

Donald R. Carlson, 67, USAF MSGT Retiree and retired Campus High School Auto/Wood/Metal Shop Para, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2013. Thursday, marked the passing of a dear friend, a tireless servant to his family, his friends and his country. He was a committed husband, a loving father, brother and friend to all. A man who knew no stranger: merely meeting him was sufficient acquaintance to make you fully authorized to ask anything and he would bend over backward for you. He was a man who loved his Lord Jesus Christ and lived like it.

He is survived by his wife, Terry; daughters, Kristin Soupene (Jason) and Lindsey King (Benjamin) all of Wichita; brother, Marion Carlson (Mary Ann) of Anacoco, LA; sisters, Hilda Norris (Tommy) of Houston, TX; Cecelia Norman (Van) of Johnson City, TX; grandchildren, Ryan Carlson, Jaiden Soupene, Eli and Afton King; and friend Joy Irons. Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ila Ruth Carlson. Viewing: 2-8pm Thursday with family greeting friends 5-7pm at Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville. Funeral service: 10am Friday, December 27, 2013, Antioch Christian Church 3741 W. 15th, Wichita. Memorial contributions to American Cancer Society.

Don Carlson, you are already sorely missed! Thank you for blessing us all with your friendship, the generous acts of service, for the teaching, the laughs, the wisdom and the example of dedication you lived out. We love you and look forward to the day when we meet again on the fair shores of Heaven’s crystal sea.
