Don Wood

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Gordon Wood, Sr. (1939-2026). Don departed this life peacefully on January 28, 2026, at the age of 86 surrounded by family.

Don was born on December 16, 1939, in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Herman Lee Wood and Grace Izetta Wood (nee Turner). After high school Don proudly served in the US Army. After his service he spent most of his career as a journeyman Millwright for the Vulcan Chemical Company. At Vulcan he also served as union president from 1996-2001.

Don was a dedicated and loving father. He is survived by his two children Donald G. Wood Jr. (LaRue) and Judith K. Wood. He was the proud grandfather of Bethany and Mitchell. Don is survived by his two sisters Ruth A. Wood and Susan Lee. He was preceded in death by his brothers Samuel, Jerry, Winfrey, and Phil.
