Dolores "Dee" Mae Simone, passed away in her home on May 31st, 2016 at the age of 73. She was born in Portland, Maine to John Perry and Ida Waite. In 1988, she married Steve Simone, whom she spent a wonderful 29 years with. She was also graced with three children; sons Don (Deena) Ewertt of Wichita, KS, Eddie Ewertt (deceased) and daughter Kathy (Scott) Douglas of Valley Center, KS. Dee had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she absolutely treasured and adored. She loved to tend to her garden, quilt, travel, go fishing, and collected a variety of different things, including thimbles, lighthouses, cookie jars and vintage indian figurines. She also loved to send handwritten cards to all her loved ones, with special stickers and newspaper clippings glued to the envelope. Dee had a strong love for our Lord and Savior and looked forward to dancing in the streets of Heaven. She had a special way of making people laugh, no matter how inappropriate her jokes were. She often told her family and friends, "Don't cry because I'm gone, smile because I lived". As John 14, verse 27 says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." Per Dee's wishes, there will be no viewing or services. Her remains will be taken to the shores of Maine, the place she loved the most. In lieu of flowers, Harbor House Shelter 437 N Topeka St, Wichita, KS 67202.
