Diane L. Pickell

Diane L. Pickell, 86, Wichita, died peacefully at home on March 19, 2024. She was born October 12, 1937 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Denzel and Viola Begley.

Diane was an avid game player and enjoyed playing with family and friends. She also loved the outdoors, and had a passion for her African Violets. She was an amazing cook and loved sharing her recipes, so much that she and her sister created their own cookbook. Diane graduated from East High School and her final job was working for the Federal Bankruptcy Court. Her best job however was being an amazing Mom, and Nana Diamond to us all. She had so many friends that she considered family, so many lives she touched with her kind, thoughtful and caring ways.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff and son, Steve. Survivors include her children, Jody (Michael) Crabtree, Debbie (Randy) Martindale, Chris (Michele) Cox; stepchildren, Gail (Darrell) Hacker, Chris (Lucinda) Pickell; siblings, Marilyn Fewin, Norman Begley; and an abundance of grandchildren, and a lovely bunch of great grandchildren.

Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00pm Tuesday, March 26th, 2024 and funeral service is 11:00am, Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, both at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 North Rock Road, Derby, Kansas 67037. If you would like to add a splash of red, or wear red on her day, it was her favorite color.

Her legacy will live on in all that she touched and loved.
