Diane Lynn (Ott) Paul passed from this life to be with Our Lord in her heavenly home on May 11, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 26, 1956, in Wichita, Kan. to Charles and Patricia Ott.
Diane grew-up on the family farm in Peck, Kan. She graduated from Mulvane High School in 1974. While attending Friends University, Diane met the love of her life Ronald Paul. They married in 1977. She graduated from Friends University in 1978 with her Bachelor of Science Degree. She completed her broker’s license in real estate and was the proud owner of Suburbia Real Estate in Mulvane.
Every Wednesday morning, she would sit out on her back patio and look for birds. She was an early bird herself and would rise at 5-5:30 a.m. to do her daily devotional and enjoy the early morning hours. Diane was well known for her love of God and her faith. Her children and grandchildren were her world. Diane would watch her grandchildren play their various sports, whether in-person or online. She loved spending time with her grandkids and loved having them over for breakfast on Wednesday mornings. Diane was an avid reader and enjoyed the local library. She loved cross-stitching and gave her finished works as gifts. Her house was always well-decorated for any and all seasons. She even had an evergreen seasonal tree that was decorated for each occasion. Diane loved her traditions, whether it was playing games during family gatherings, putting together puzzles, taking walks after a large family meal, having shrimp cocktail at Christmas, attending midnight church service on Christmas Eve, and enjoying 2 a.m. Christmas breakfast. To her children, she loved to give books, garden flags, fuzzy socks, pajama pants, and treats from Nifty Nut House. Diane enjoyed the game of golf. Her favorite thing to do was to play golf with her lifelong partner in crime, Ron. They had 47 years of playing golf together. They played numerous golf courses together, often planning their vacations around courses they had never played. Diane was an active member of the Women’s Country Club League at the Derby Country Club. She was the 2023 Women’s Club Champion. Diane was an avid Chiefs fan with a Travis Kelce obsession. She enjoyed watching Chiefs games and often times was the life of the party at tailgates.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Patricia Ott; parents-in-law, Les and Veda Paul; sister-in-law, Rebecca Ott. She is survived by her spouse, Ronald D. Paul, children Derek (Krysti) Paul, Erin (Troy) Johnson, and Jared (Cierra) Paul; her 5 grandchildren, Dylan Paul, Logan Johnson, Kristopher Paul, Kaitlyn Paul, and Brett Johnson; her siblings, Debbie Fleming, Kent Ott, Carla Calvert and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2024, with family present from 5-8 p.m. at Smith Family Mortuary in Mulvane.
Funeral Service is Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Mulvane United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at the Mulvane Cemetery. A memorial donation is suggested in lieu of flowers to Life on Life, Inc. at 1833 S. 151 St. W.
