Derek J. Varner, 26, died March 8, 2017. Survivors include his parents, Russell and Lucille Varner of Belle Plaine; brothers, Adam Varner (Caitlin) of Wellington, Wesley Varner of Wichita, Matt Varner of Dodge City, Cody Varner of Belle Plaine; grandparents, Coralee Budke of Beloit, Clyde Varner of Clearwater. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert Budke and Martha Varner. Viewing: 3-8pm Sunday, Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Rosary: 6pm Monday, St. Anthony Catholic Church, 210 North B Street, Wellington. Funeral Mass: 10:30am Tuesday, also at the church. A memorial is established with Kansas Humane Society.
