Beden, Dennis, 64, retired Master Electrician for Vulcan/Occidental Chemical, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby, KS.
Dennis was a 1969 graduate of Derby High School. He loved his Coca-Cola, trains, motorcycle, and Calvin & Hobbes comics; but none as much as he loved his large family. His dry sense of humor bordered on smart-alec. Some of his fondest memories included traveling to Hawaii, and his motorcycle trips to Canada and Colorado. He retired in 2011, after 38 years with Vulcan.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ione Beden, and son-in-law, Dan Gilliam. Survived by his loving wife, Paula Beden; children Amy Gilliam, Anita (Eric) Gillispie, Jenny (Chris) Flatan, Nichole (Mike Bennett) Foster, Laurie (Josh) Preble, and Zachary Beden; parents Cecil Beden and Evalyn Beden; siblings Brenda Beden and Gary (Brenda Kay) Beden; and fourteen much-loved grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with The Alzheimer's Association, 1820 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67214, and Serenity Hospice, 9340 E. Central, Wichita, KS 67206.
