Deloris L. Cornelsen

Cornelsen, Deloris (Dee), 93 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 18, 2016. She was born October 12, 1922 in Okeene, OK, the daughter of Arthur P. and Anna F. (Flaming) Cornelsen. They preceded her in death along with three brothers, Oliver, R.D. and Milford and beloved friend, Fred Cohlmia. Surviving is her beloved friend and helper, Susan Cohlmia of Haysville, KS and Gloria Smith of Haysville. Dee was an employee of Cohlmia’s Clothing Stores for 41 years working in Okeene, OK and Haysville, KS. Dee began attending Seneca Assembly of God/Colonial Heights Assembly of God in 1958 where she was a teacher in the Children’s Department for 31 years. She retired from teaching in 1989. Dee was a survivor of the May 1999 tornado that totally destroyed her home and much of the city of Haysville. Se then moved to Peach Tree Plaza and became active in her retirement community. She wrote a weekly article for the Haysville Daily Reporter for four years, regarding activities at Peach Tree Plaza involving her other friends. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 PM on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 with Funeral Service at 1:00 PM Thursday at Smith Mortuary, 7031 S. Broadway, Haysville, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to Colonial Heights Assembly of God, 5200 S. Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67216. Condolences may be left at www.smithfamilymortuaries.com.
