Delora Mae Donovan

April 23, 1936 — March 24, 2015

Donovan, Delora Mae, who helped advance the Kansas Association of Nurse Anesthetists in the 1970s, died on March 24th, 2015. A vigorous volunteer, social activist and an opera supporter, she was born at the country-home of Jerome and Lenora Donovan at the end of the dustbowl days in 1936 in Hoisington, Kansas. Delora grew up with her siblings Marvin, Melva and Gerald. Awarded a scholarship from the Hoisington Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, she pursued a career in nursing at St. Luke’s School of Anesthesia, St. Francis University and K-State. She traveled to China with PeaceCorps, volunteered in Zimbabwe, and visited Kazakhstan. In 2011, she adopted a son Timur Bekbosunov. Delora is survived by her brother Gerald, son Timur and a large multigenerational family. Memorial service will be held on April 26th at 2 pm at Woodland UMC, 1100 W 15th St N, Wichita, 67203.
