Debbie C. Brzezinski, born on December 2, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, in Mulvane, Kansas, at the age of 65.
Debbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, John Brzezinski. Their enduring love story began when they were just 16 years old and remained steadfast until John's passing a little over a year ago. Her family finds comfort in the belief that they are now reunited in eternal peace. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jo Ann Haggerty and Donald Pankey Sr., as well as her siblings, Teri Pankey and Donald Pankey Jr.
She is lovingly remembered by her youngest sister, Toni Crawford (Pankey), who will forever cherish Debbie’s memory. Debbie’s legacy continues through her four children: Jamie Brzezinski of Overland Park, Kansas; Michelle Butts (Brandon) of Peabody, Kansas; Michael Brzezinski of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and Melissa Mayer (Jason) of Goddard, Kansas. She was a proud grandmother to Taylor, Micah, Elaina, Jonah, Silas, Judah, Abrahm, Eden, and great-grandchild Wrenlee.
Throughout her life, Debbie dedicated herself to serving others. Alongside her husband, she worked as a Youth Leader and frequently opened their home to students for fellowship—and her favorite treat, Dr Pepper. Even in later years, she remained connected with many of those now-grown students. She also devoted herself to working with special needs children before transitioning to a role supporting classrooms by ensuring they had the perfect substitute teacher. Her coworkers became treasured friends as she took immense pride in her work.
Above all else, Debbie cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother. She filled her family’s lives with love and joy and
never missed an opportunity to say “I love you,” remind others to trust in God, or share that she was praying for them.
Debbie’s unwavering faith and devotion to her family defined her life. May she rest in eternal peace and may the time shared with her bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Reliance Community Church.
