Deborah “Debbie” Kay (Jacks) Short was born on June 1, 1957 in Pratt, KS and passed away in the early morning hours on September 23, 2024.
Debbie loved being a mom, grandma and wife. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved animals. She loved to tell stories of bringing home strays before she had kids to care for. She loved to do people’s hair and get to know them in the process. She was kind, extremely generous and loved people well. Above all, Debbie loved Jesus and shared his love with the people around her.
Debbie is survived by her husband Morris Short of Derby, son Jared (Taylor) Garver of Rose Hill, daughter Jolene (Jeff) Seal of Wichita, step son Steven (Paula) Thomson of Manhattan, grandchildren Ashton, Kellen & Brady Garver, Alexis, Keaton & Emma Seal, and Cameron Thomson, sisters Sheilah (Nolen) Pridemore and Renee (Roger) Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents Warren and Clella Jacks and sister Marie Jacks.
A memorial service will be held 11am Saturday, October 5, at Pleasantview Baptist Church in Derby, KS.
Memorials have been established with American Legion Post 408, and with Pleasantview Baptist Church in Derby.
