Deana Louise Hughes was born on April 14, 1956 to Claude and Berna Dean Brown Amerine. She and her brother, Don Amerine, were among the first twins born at the Greensburg, KS hospital. They joined their older brother, Randall Amerine, at home and enjoyed a childhood filled with faith, love and laughter in Haviland and Greensburg, KS.
Deana married Michael Hughes in Pratt, KS in 1986. They enjoyed a wonderful life together and raised their daughters, Joley Riley and Mollie Salzbrenner, in Pratt before moving to Wichita, KS to be closer to family. Deana was known for her impeccable sense of style and loved to wow her friends and family with her fashion and decorating skills. She was the best Nannie in the world to her grandchildren and she will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Deana is survived by her husband, Michael, daughters Joley (Shawn) and Mollie (Lane), her grandchildren Logan Riley, Harry Hoover and Simon Riley and her brothers Randall and Don Amerine. She also has many beloved nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Deana was predeceased by her parents and stillborn brothers, Dickie and Phillip Amerine. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at Smith Mortuary in Derby, KS. Donations may be made to Beauties and Beasts in lieu of flowers.
