David Schlaegel

David Merle Schlaegel, age 78, retired USF Dugan Controller, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at his home in Rose Hill, Kansas. David is preceded in death by his parents, D.Herbert and Mary Lu Schlaegel: sister, Debra Kay; his daughter, Lisa Dawn and his son, Darin Merle.

Dave was born at home in Corning, Kansas. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Centralia High School in 1960. He married the love of his life, Anna Lou on August 29, 1964. They had four children: Lisa Dawn, Michelle Sue and twins, Darin Merle and Karen Ann.

Dave enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a very passionate and loyal Oklahoma Sooner Football fan. Dave was loved by everyone who knew him and could fix anything with a sheetrock screw. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Lou; daughters, Michelle Anderson (Michael) of Anthony, Kansas and Karen Kraus of Rose Hill, Kansas; daughter in law, Catherine Schlaegel of Tampa, Florida; brothers, Gary Schlaegel (Marian) of Whiting, Kansas and Chuck Schlaegel (Connie) of Holton, Kansas and a total of 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
