David William Glidden, age 58, passed away the evening of March 5, 2026.
David was born in S. Plainfield, New Jersey on December 21, 1967, to Ray and Betty Glidden. After graduating from Oklahoma State University, David accepted a role as an Engineer at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, and remained in the aircraft field his entire life. When David and Sheryl were married in June 2002, he made his home in Haysville, Kansas.
David loved the outdoors, and one of his greatest joys was the peace of simply sitting around a campfire with family and friends. Family vacations were typically camping, trout fishing, or thrill rides at theme parks. He was always up for a game of cards and family game nights. David's pastimes were diverse, ranging from watching football, rugby games, racing, to just spending time in his pole barn restoring his Willy's Jeep or fulfilling one of the many requests from his family to build or fix something. Dave had a huge heart and was always willing to help others.
Dave loved life and was always the "life of the party". He enjoyed time with his family and teaching his 7 grandkids ornery things that would often "get them in trouble" with their parents. He was a dreamer and a planner, with the next project never too far on the horizon. He loved our Lord and Savior, his family and his country immensely. David was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
David was preceded in death by his father, Raymond William Glidden.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Sheryl Glidden, children, Mandy (Sean) Kennedy, Melanie (Ely Phillips) Richardson, Kaylee Glidden, Matthew Glidden, cherished grandchildren, Tannen Kennedy, Tarynn Kennedy, Teagynn Kennedy, Rayne George, Eleanor Phillips, Dehlanie Anderson, and Christina Williams, mother, Betty Whitney, brother, Raymond (Shelly) Glidden, and their children, Amelia Glidden, Stephen Bracken, and Megan Bracken, as well as many more nieces and nephews. His family meant everything to him, and his love for them will live on through each of them.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Smith Family Mortuary - Haysville. A memorial service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on Wednesday, March 11, at 10:00 a.m., at Calvary's Rock, 2661 S. Meridian Ave. Wichita, Kansas 67217. Interment following the funeral service at Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W. 47th St. S., Wichita, Kansas 67215.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Tornado Alley Young Marines, 14940 SW Millcrest Acres Road, Augusta, Kansas 67010.
