Wichita - David Emery Bowmaker, 70, passed away April 06, 2025. He was born September 01, 1954 to Clarence Bowmaker and Virginia "Jean" Smith (Webb) in Wichita, KS. He was the third of seven children.
David married Denna and together they raised three children, Richard, Jason and Amber.
He drove a semi truck over the road for many years and also enjoyed his time during harvest in the field. He worked as a mechanic, sometimes on cars and for many years on machinery in various machine shops. From Boeing to some of the smaller shops through his life. David was very mechanically inclined and could work on almost anything. He always had some kind of project going.
He loved to fish and enjoyed time at the lake, race cars and especially riding his Harley. He was an avid collector of all kinds of "artifacts".
David was always the life of the party, there was never a dull moment when he was around.
Family and friends were so important to David and he cherished each one. He will be dearly missed but we're thankful to know he's now rejoicing in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Bowmaker and Virginia Smith; son, Jason Bowmaker and brother, Jay Bowmaker
David is survived by his wife, Denna Bowmaker; children, Richard (Tammy) Sparkman and Amber (Mack) Hudson; grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Joseph, Kaylee, Kirsten and Emma; great-grandchildren, Harli, Eli, Addali and Maverick; siblings, Kenneth Bowmaker, Patricia Sloat, Cheryl Dreiling, Danny Bowmaker and Julie Bobo; numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation: 12pm and Service 1PM on Wednesday April 16, 2025 both at Smith Family Mortuary Haysville. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
