Runyan, Darryl Nathan, 56, passed away on November 22, 2025. He was born to Randy and Aletta Runyan on January 14, 1969, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Darryl always loved to learn something new and would always put 1000% into everything he did. A true geek at heart if he could watch Star Trek and play World of Warcraft all day that would’ve been a perfect day to him. He loved big and if you ever needed something he was always there for you.
Although he had a lot of passions, like graphic design, video editing, musicals, hockey, Marvel, Harley Quinn, video games, pool, Dungeons & Dragons, and fixing up his truck, his true passion was the classroom. For 15 years he poured his heart and soul into teaching students how to be successful in the world of graphic design, game design, and digital media.
There are no words to describe the void that will be left without Darryl here. He was the best husband, dad, brother, papa, son, teacher, and friend ever. The world will always be a little quieter without his cricket sounds, whistling Christmas carols, or just humming his favorite song.
He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Lee Runyan; father-in-law Edward Stevens, and mother-in-law, Kimberley Moses-Stevens.
Darryl is survived by his wife of 12 years, Sarah Runyan; children, Trenton (Morgan) Runyan, Samantha Runyan, Carsten Runyan, Cadence Runyan; grandchildren, Killian, Shayleigh, Madison, Natalie, Veto, and Lily; mother, Aletta Runyan; siblings, Michael (Jeannie) Runyan and Anthony (Vanessa) Runyan; sister-in-law, Stacey (Bill) Kluge; and his beloved and treasured companion, Pippin.
A small memorial service for immediate family will be held at 1pm Friday, November 28, 2025, at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd. Derby, Kansas 67037. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
