Danny R. Spoon

Dr. Danny R. Spoon, age 71, passed away September 8, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas. Danny was born January 31, 1954 at McConnell AFB, the son of Pearline and Raiford Spoon. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Burlington, NC. Danny graduated from Ahoskie High School in North Carolina. After graduation, he joined the US Navy where he met his wife Carmen. They had a son named Joshua.

Danny loved knowledge and was forever learning. He graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Jr. College where he earned a machine Tool Metal Working Degree. Then he attended William Carey College in Gulfport, Mississippi where he earned his BA in Business Administration along with a BS in Community Service. He also studied at Wichita State University. He was recognized by the Pinnacle National Honor Society during this time. He went on to study at Climate Control Institute in Wichita where he received his Journeyman Mechanic License and went on to teach for several years. His desire to continue his education led him to the Kansas College of Chinese Medicine where he received his Doctorate of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Danny practiced at Evergreen Wellness Center while teaching for many years.

Danny is preceded in death by his brother Darrell Spoon, his father Raiford Spoon, and stepfather Tom Simonsen.

He is survived by his mother, Pearline Simonsen, brother Xavier (Kathleen) Simonsen, sister Debbra (Bill) Wessels, sister Andree Sisco, sister Bernadette (Davey) Mann, son Joshua (Melinda) Spoon, granddaughter Heather (Joshua) Toone, grandson Liam, and many nephews and nieces, and by Alta Brock, who made a huge impact on Danny’s life.
